Let me say up front that I’m not a lawyer, so please don’t read this as anything other than a layman’s take on things from a common sense perspective.
Let’s talk about the waiver we all sign before any PCA moving event. While most of the document applies to racing events, it specifically states that the release applies to any event put on by our region or the Porsche Club of America (PCA).
The bottom line is that by signing the waiver, people agree that:
1. Our events inherently involve risk.
2. Your participation is entirely voluntary.
3. You are responsible for notifying the organizer of any unsafe act or condition.
4. Any damage done to you or by you is solely your responsibility.
The most interesting thing in the document is primarily racing related, but may also apply to non-racing events. The document states, “I expressly acknowledge that injuries received may be compounded or increased by negligent rescue operations or procedures of the releasees [meaning the Kansas City Region Porsche Club of America (KCRPCA) or the PCA].” Further, your signing of the waiver “extends to all acts

While we don’t want to frighten people away from enjoying our events, we need you to realize that neither the KCRPCA nor the PCA are responsible if something goes wrong. In summary, don’t be stupid. And, if you are (or someone else is and you have property or personal damage as a result of that), you are solely responsible for making it right.
