Now comes the tricky part, which is inserting the wrist pin clip. The idea here
is to be slow and methodical setting up the insertion, and then drive the clip home with force. If you miss, the tension of the wrist pin clip will pop out of the piston/tube and end
up in the cylinder case. Then you take out however many pistons you have installed on bank two, disassemble the case halves, fish it out, and reassemble and try again. This is not fun and very time consuming.
To insert the clip, it is installed on the inside of the black tube from the tool kit (shown in the first picture). Then use the
rod that was used to insert the wrist pin to slide the clip out of the tube and into the side of the piston. The clips are very strong and they hold themselves in the tube easily due to pressure, so don’t worry about them falling out.
See Picture 5
Here is an idea of how the tube needs to butt up against the piston to allow for clip insertion. If there is any gap at all, the clip will not seat and will end up in the engine. The clips are under such tension, that if you have ever removed a wrist pin clip from a piston with a small screwdriver, you know
IT TAKES A VERY HIGH QUALITY BORESCOPE TO COMPLETE THE PROCESS FROM THIS POINT ON.
