STILL LEARNING CAR CONTROL AND LOVING IT.
First, I have to give thanks to Dave Stadtmueller and all the club volunteers that gave their time and energy to host another successful event. There are a lot of moving parts between gridding up cars, timing and scoring, corner workers, and keeping the drives ready for their next heats.
That being said, about 40 race cars and 100 HPDE participants made it out to Heartland Motorsports Park. For me,

It’s inspired by the plaid livery of PFAFF Motorsports, a Canadian based Porsche race team on the IMSA race circuit. He and I checked out the “competition” in their Porsches and colorful livery. We even found our way down to the starting grid. Watching him smile when the racers started their engines was priceless.

the track is full of many great memories and record setting/ personal best times around this 2.5 mile Midwestern circuit.
The windy weather conditions for the first days of the event were a notable first for all. Imagine
a really windy day as a kid and you want to fly a kite. Now times those gusts by a factor of 10. The string may snap and goodbye kite. Friday and Saturday consisted of 20 mph constant winds. And I do mean constant winds. The only thing to interrupt the wind was more wind with gusts up to 30 and 45 mph. I could literally see people standing in the parking lots leaning into the wind. Not many Midwesterners have

Seeing race cars at Heartland Park Topeka was a first for many, including a friend’s five year
old great nephew Timothy. My crew chief, ‘Timmy’, helped me add fuel to my Boxster S, which sported a new look for the event.
