cruise. Fortunately, my sister had recently moved to Savannah, Georgia, and was look- ing for a small family reunion.
So, I packed my bag, took off from work early on Friday and headed down to Geor- gia’s rst city. First, I-95 really sucks until you get south of Richmond. Even when traf- c is owing, it seems to suck the life out of you and you rarely approach the posted speed limit. So I found it somewhat amus- ing to see highway signs stating “that driv- ing above 80 mph is considered reckless driving” with increased nes and penalties. I was barely doing 50.
Embarrassingly, I was passed by a Prius doing 70. So I did the only reasonable thing available to me and passed him at 70. There was even a time when I was doing 70 and not closing the gap between me and the cars in front of me. When I got up to 70 and still wasn’t getting any closer, I decided to slow back down to 70.
Otherwise, the drive was uneventful. A radio would have been nice, but the after- market radio in the car hasn’t worked since I bought the car. And, it’s not for a lack of trying. I even went on line and read the in- stallation and owners’ manuals to try and get
it to work. I even tried to remove it and rein- stall the original radio but couldn’t get it out. At least I had a lot of time to think about im- portant stuff, like why is there air and man, what a sweet ride even the base Boxster is. .. .
Eight hours after leaving, I nally entered Georgia and was greeted by rain showers,

Things open up a bit south of Richmond and you can stretch the car’s legs a bit. North Carolina was a nice drive, but the road noticeably improved when I got to South Carolina. Not sure what it was, but I-95 is smooth, clean, has looooooong merge lanes for joining traf c, and the people there seem to enjoy driving at 70 miles an hour.
