  to my angst. Luckily, the problem was actu- ally with the connection at the battery as the clamp rotated quite freely. I was eventually able to  nd the sweet spot that allowed the car to start, but could not  nd a wrench to tighten the clamp.
After the trolley tour and a nice southern lunch, it was time to put the top down and drive to Hilton Head, where the beach was still crowded and people were swimming in the ocean in the middle of October. Sadly, the battery clamp worked its way off the contact point and we had to play with it in order to get the car started when it was time to leave. I mean, how many times have you run across the situation where the battery clamp loses its connection?
And it happened again after dinner at The Lady and Sons restaurant. Fortunately, I was able to tighten the clamp when we got back to my sister’s place. And in another miracle, the radio decided to work.
So, after a long day, I hit the sack at 9:30, waking bright and refreshed at two in the morning. After trying to get back to sleep for 30 minutes without success, I decided that I might as well hit the road. Maybe not the brightest idea I’ve had, as I ended up stopping 5 times to clear the cobwebs, but the driving was nice, with extended stretches of driving 70 or so.
