Being without your Porsche is quite unnerving.
the normal noise I make when I get in the car. Normally, The Ghost barks to life followed by the nether-world rumble of my Fabspeed exhaust. I grin and say to myself “let’s do this”. However, this morning I gave a “grrrrrr” as The Ghost had decided not to start.
A funny thing happens when your car does not start; your heart skips a beat. How bad is this, you think. Have I heard that noise before? Maybe I just need to try the key again. No luck. Grrrrr. Meanwhile, your wallet is feeling nauseous, preparing to vomit cash to get things xed.
For the most part, my Porsches have been very reliable. The Boxster endured several autocrosses and three driver educations (DE) with no problems. The ‘88 944T tackled trips to Palooza, a few DE’s, and an autocross or two. The 2000 996 C2 tackled a trip up to the RPM
summer trip out to Colorado and a run up Pikes Peak.
Wait; there was the time the exhaust tip fell off the 944T. What do you expect after 20 years? Besides, it was a good excuse to get a 3” Fabspeed exhaust, chip upgrade, and air intake. Can you say hellllloooo 300 hp!
But this morning in my cold garage, The Ghost was not willing to haunt the early Saturday morning roads that lead to breakfast at LePeep. This morning, just “grrrrr-eh”. Is the good Doctor on speed dial? Regardless, the call was made. One last time ----Grrrrr-eh! I sighed in resignation.
Being without your Porsche is quite unnerving. I stare at my empty 3rd car garage spot. I hold a few of my car tools. I align my cans of car wax and window cleaner. Getting up for Saturday morning KCRPCA breakfast is harder. I like my manly-man-minivan, but it is just not the same.
So, The Ghost rests in the hands of the good Doctor as he performs an exorcism on my electrical gremlins. It is a task I know he will conquer without pea green vomit being spewed at him, or at least I hope that does not happen.
Either way, I hope to be haunting the roads to breakfast again real soon.
