get taken to a professional at that point and you want to be able to drive it there. Remove the rear diff fill plug (some fluid may come out), then remove the drain plug at the bottom. Let the fluids drain until they stop dripping. Replace the drain plug. The differential plugs all have a viton o’’ ring seal. Typically, these can be reused, 4 but if they look damaged, replace them with a new o’ ring. New drain and fill plugs are about $15 each if you want to replace them with new. The torque spec is 26ft/lbs on the differential plugs. The fill plugs you will just hand tighten as there is no room for # PIC a torque wrench. These are not under any pressure; they have an o’ ring seal so you don’t have to go cranking on them with your big wrench. 26ft/lbs is not a lot. Once the drain plug is installed, stick your fill tube from your pump into the fill hole and pump until it starts to run out the fill hole. Remove the hose and let the fluid drip until it stops, then replace the fill plug. The level is correct when it just a tick below the bottom of the fill hole The transfer case is found in the center of the vehicle and the plugs are at the rear of the case. These are NOT o’ring plugs like the differentials were. They are tapered plugs with no seal which seal simply by screwing them into the case. See Pic 3 The front differential is done exactly the same with the exception of one thing. The fill plug has very little clearance so it will require a stubby allen wrench. Make sure to get the tool seated properly before trying #5 to break it loose. Drain, replace plug, fill, yada yada. See Pic 4 The transfer case is found in PIC Der Sportwagen 27
