6 WHAT’S BEST ABOUT YOUR PORSCHE?
FOR STARTERS, IT’S THE BEST HANDLING CAR THAT I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. PERIOD. BEING A FIRST-GEN 996, IT STILL HAS THE PLANTED, GROUNDED FEEL OF PURE ANALOG PORSCHE.
Our traveling days are pretty much behind us. We did a cruise in 2014 of the Inside Passage of Alaska. That was memorable. The one bucket-list trip for me would be race week in Monaco, for the vintage races, the Porsche Cup Car races and ending with the F1 race.
I first met Kevin, as most members, at breakfast. He pulled up in one of the most unique colored Porsche I’d ever seen. It is purple in some light and black in others. I had to ask him about it. I learned it was Vesuvio Metallic.
If you have been reading the Der Sportwangen for a while, Kevin’s name may be familiar.

10ANY FUN CARS GROWING UP?
My father bought a 1965 Olds
442 brand new. A year later, he’d had it with the stiff suspension and guess who turned 16 and needed a car for high school? I had my own reserved space in the school lot. My Magnum Opus was a ’68 Camaro that I gutted and rebuilt in 1973 into a street Frankenstein: 427 big-block, drive train from a later Z-28 etc. An awesome car that was sold when I decided to get married. Imagine.
