still rings in my head. A better description would have been “Oh, you can find everything you need on eBay.” Grumble. Grumble. I did find a lower mounting plate on ebay for $300 and said.... pass, as I need two. I will keep searching. I did a K&N system with rain covers and they look good and installed quite easily.
Who the heck knows about all these PARTS! It’s like they never end! And this is a car built in 1970! I don’t even want to think about the newer models.
Next up was the installation of
the gas tank, hook up new hoses and it went in like I dreamed! Sometimes you need these little “wins” to inspire you to keep going and not give up.
CHALLENGES CONTINUE
Back glass was installed by a gent in Tulsa as the articles I read on that didn’t inspire me in a dramatic fashion to try and do that myself. Full disclosure, about $800 to have it done (ouch). I had everything laid out and guess what? He forgot to install the chrome trim under the window that trims out the targa cover on the bottom side. Dammit. Can
I fix it? I have no idea, but I
may try using some plastic trim tools. I hear some owners delete them anyway to prevent rust possibilities, so that may be my
answer as well for now. If you look close at the Targa picture, you might be able to see what’s missing. Yes, you need the glass in before you do the Targa cover. Don’t ask......
Oh, the Targa metal cover
– guess what, you need some “wool” strips as a damper between the metal roll bar and the Targa cover. Mine were destroyed (just a few pieces were still tacked on). My seamstress wife found some at the local JoAnn’s and
cut them appropriately and got it installed in less than an hour. I’m flying on this beast!
