DRIVING EVENT
Bob Charlesworth
Rudy ordered up a won- derful day, his lovely wife kept track of everyone’s times and the crew set up a pretty quick and challeng- ing course. How do I know it was challenging? I bet almost half of the rst runs were DNF’s (Did Not Fin- ish) due to drivers being off course. Not just a little, but WAY off course – mak- ing one up as they go. Hey, sometimes that’s how it goes when cleaning out cobwebs! Oh, and we’ve all done it, so don’t be embarrassed.
The great news, as you can see by the one picture of the drivers meeting, we had a phenomenal turn out.

AIUTOCROSS
t’s Spring and time to I attribute this to my writing dust off the cobwebs skills in encouraging mem- – at least those in your bers to attend – okay, maybe
that KCRPCA Autocross is a lot of fun! The biggest is- sue we’ve heard is that there were almost too many at this event in order to get enough runs in to really learn the track and better your time. I counted 33 drivers (maybe more) with a few sharing a car (which my son Kyle and I typically do). The lot just isn’t large enough to really accommodate this many vehicles to stay in line eas- ily. I know the executive team at the club have heard about this and are working on a solution – maybe on- line enrollment only up to “x” number of cars, etc. If you have about 3 minutes a car (staging, run, exit) that’s
mind, when it comes to not. But, the word is out
1 hour for 20 cars to make one run. Some suggested running until about 1 PM – but like most events, it takes volunteers and we must be cognizant of their time con- tribution as well. But you have to admit, this a GREAT problem to have and I en- joyed meeting many of you. Even if you don’t run, come out and visit with us all.
That being said, I think everyone did a great job in keeping the line moving and allowing those in/out as needed. The camarade- rie was exceptional and I always see smiling faces on everyone when they get out of their car. What I also en- joyed is seeing the variety of cars – even a 914 was there (reminded me of college, as I had a 1972 914 way back then).
