how does Southern Africa differ from Eastern Africa? Both regions offer
savanna areas filled with big game, but there are some key differences. In a general
way, Southern Africa is more bushveld country. The savannas have more woodlands
and riverine habitat, interspersed with vleis or meadows with tall grasslands, compared
to East Africa’s short grass plains.
Southern Africa is also a land of extreme habitats from the driest desert in the world
to lush inland deltas, from giant river systems such as the Zambezi to remote mopane
woodlands and the thundering Victoria Falls. This diversity also allows numerous ways
to explore with expert guides: in open safari vehicles, on foot, in canoes and boats,
from photographic hides, on mountain bikes and on horseback.
Wherever you choose to go in Southern Africa, all our camps and lodges are selected
to give you exclusive access to exceptional habitats and wildlife viewing opportunities.
