e name alone conjures romance, legend, and history. Little wonder that Eastern
Africa is where traditional safaris began. This is the home of some of the most striking
landscapes in all of Africa, where majestic Mount Kilimanjaro meets the beautiful short
grass plains and acacia woodlands of the Serengeti and the Masai Mara. It is a land of
zebra and wildebeest, lions and leopards, elephants and rhinos, and many, many more.
Eastern Africa is more than the wild, expansive beauty of the savanna, and the remarkable
drama of its annual Great Migration. This is home to the Great Rift Valley, a gouge in the Earth’s
surface that is over 3,000 miles long, where humankind evolved, with soda lakes, escarpments,
and volcanoes. It can be tropical, situated on the equator, with two rainy seasons. And, it
encompasses montane forests, home to the critically endangered mountain gorilla.
However you choose to realize your dream of Eastern Africa, you’ll find that wildlife is as
plentiful as it is diverse, and your camps – hot showers and crisp sheets in the cool of the
evening – set the standard in nonchalant sophistication.
