A Message From
Our President Lieutenant anthony burgio
Greetings everyone! I hope you and your families are doing well! I just wanted to take the opportunity to fill everyone in on some recent events that we have had. On Friday, May 6th we hosted our 90th Anniversary Dinner Dance at Russo’s on the Bay.
The event was a great success, as we had well over 600 people in
attendance. Congratulations to all of the honorees and award recipients. A special word of thanks to my First Vice President Michael Alfieri, my Second Vice President Sebastian Bonanno and my
entire board for helping ensure that our members and honorees had a great and memorable evening.
I also wanted to thank my Corresponding Secretary Anthony Mattesi for the hard work and dedication that was put into our dinner dance journal. I can not wait for the 2023 dinner dance and
I hope to see you there next year!
On Tuesday, May 24th at our general meeting, we were able to give out our annual High School and College Scholarships. Congratulations to all who received their scholarship award! A special word of thanks to Scholarship Chair Dyanne Marzano and John Passarella for continuing this great honor for children of our members!
We recently had our annual Louis J. Balsamo Sr. and Nicola Cesarano memorial Fishing Trip which went
out of City Island in the Bronx. The trip was sold out! A great time was had by all and alot of fish were caught! Thank you to Bronx Financial Secretary John Caruso for ensuring the success of the trip, and for keeping
the memory of Nicola Cesarano and Louis J. Balsamo, Sr. alive.
We also had our Annual Sgt. Paul J. Tuozzolo Memorial Golf Outing, held at Douglaston Golf Course in Queens. A special word of gratitude to all of our supporters, and especially Sergeant at Arms Tommy Rao and his golf committee for continuing to honor Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo’s legacy, and to Lisa Tuozzolo and her family for their constant support of our organization.
Summer is right around the corner, and with that being said, please be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram, where future event announcements will be posted. NYPD Columbia Association on Facebook, and @NYPDColumbia on Instagram.
I wish you all a safe summer, and I can not wait to see everyone at the general meeting on Tuesday, September 27th. Until then, please stay safe and be well!!
Fraternally, Anthony Burgio President
