Rescued Cows at Hillside...
There are 300 rescued cows living at Hillside and each has a story
to tell. Many came here as a result of Trading Standards’ cases
where their previous owners neglected them and were prosecuted.
Some were pets that their loving owners could no longer look after
and others were saved by a quirk of fate, such as swimming in a river,
or being infertile. Whatever their past, they are now safe to enjoy the
rest of their days free from the threat of cruelty, neglect or slaughter.
During the summer they get the chance to graze the summer
meadows and, when the colder weather arrives, they benefit from the
comforts of straw to keep them warm. They have free access to a
large barn but many prefer to spend most of the winter days getting
comfortable on their straw pads.
