Do We REJOICE?

                                                                                            John T. Mathew
                                                                                             Roll No. 1960

I suspect many of us recall the verse from the Bible, Philippians 4:4

            and Psalm 100:

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!”

Initially, I believe most of our MTC members remembered the Son of

God, Lord Jesus, on his birthday, offered prayers at the church, and

attended the Christmas Carols during the season. But I question if

each one of us is genuinely rejoicing in the moments of Christianity’s

            grandest calendar event.

Does GOD command us to rejoice?

Beyond Israel, God commands all nations to rejoice in their Maker

(“Let the nations be glad and sing for joy” from Psalm 67:4), and even

the natural world is urged to join in this joy (“Let the heavens be glad,

and let the earth rejoice” from Psalm 96:11). The Bible verse says,

“The LORD has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad”

            (Psalms 118:24).

            Themes during the December month:

            - Beginning of Twenty-Five Days Lent; Bible Day - A gathering that

shares the Good News of Salvation.

            - John the Baptist: Greatest among those born of Women.

            - Coming of the Savior.

We can observe that the themes mentioned above express the themes

relating to rejoicing, as established by Mar Thoma Sabha, during each

service day. The birth of a child into a family brings immense joy to
