SalyrAN Golden Retrievers

My first dog was a toy poodle who
taught a 13 year old girl the meaning of
patience. Together, we completed a
companion dog degree in obedience,
but she had little interest in dog shows
and, much to her relief, retired imme-
diately.
Fot my 15th birthday, my parents gave
me a show quality German Shepherd
puppy. But from her breeder, I re-
ceived the long lasting gift of a mentor
who graciously took me under her
wing. I attended endless handling clas-
ses, and competed in Jr. Showmanship, conformation and obedience, and
grew up.

In September of 1975 I bought my first golden retriever. She was a Char-
lie daughter out of a Jungold bitch. She was my first champion and the
beginning of Salyran goldens. Ch Salyran Take It To The Limit VCD2
UD RE TD MX MXJ MXP MJP OS SDHF was her great grandson. Shaq
was a good example of why people love goldens. He was beloved by eve-
ryone who knew him. He was one of the sweetest, most patient, and
infinitely trainable dogs I ever bred. He had a temperament that was
amazing in almost every way.
Of course there have been other wonderful Salyran dogs, both before
and after Shaq. Most people might consider breeding a 2-time National
Specialty winner the pinnacle of their career, and it was truly a life
changing experience.
But possibly more important to me are the amazing people I have met
along the way. I have made lifelong friendships in the 44 years that make
up my life in goldens. Those friendships remain today and my life is so
much MORE because of them. I am extremely honored to have been
invited to judge the top twenty and I want to thank the committee mem-
bers for the opportunity
