44o 37.13' N 067o 17.26' W are the coordinates for Cross Island, a beautiful large 1,700 acre island above Acadia, off of Cutler, Maine. We’re often been asked if we own it. Our answer has always been, “Not yet!”. Actually Cross Island belongs to all of us, as the entire island is a national wildlife refuge.

It was the quiet of the island.
The smell of apples along a dirt road
that impressed. Island cars and
the wave, and pickup trucks with kids,
dogs, and banana boxes in the back.
An island inn, a long porch, white wicker furniture, a long green lawn sweeping down to a long dock and the friendliest golden retriever we’d ever met.
