First Tee – Tampa Bay
Age: 25
Years in First Tee: 3
College: Muhlenberg College | B.A., Fine Arts University of South Florida | Masters, Medical Science University of Florida | Doctorate, Veterinary Science
What are you doing today?
I am in my first year in Veterinary school and plan to focus on equine or zoological/aquatic medicine after graduation.
What impact did First Tee have on your life?
First Tee - Tampa Bay was a large part of improving my golf game, not only by the excellent coaches we were blessed to have, but also through work opportunities, scholarships to amazing summer camps and communication/networks. Golf was an essential part of my college experience. Because of my golf game, I was able to obtain a scholarship that helped me attend college and make it to veterinary school.
What is your favorite memory from your First Tee – Tampa Bay experience?
First Tee instilled in me a work ethic to persevere through difficult times, such as a busy lecture schedule and learning in a quick paced environment. First Tee also taught me
how to communicate with peers as well as mentors, leaders and professionals. This equipped me to have the confidence to interact and communicate with my fellow veterinary students as well as the doctors and professors.
Is there a specific core value or life skill that you learned which has helped you in life?
One of the core values I continue to use throughout life
has been sportsmanship. Even outside of a sporting environment, sportsmanship extends to any team, even
in a vet school class or hospital. Sportsmanship ensures that we lift one another up and help each other succeed.
First Tee instilled in me a work ethic to persevere through difficult times.
