2,934kids participated in experiences that cultivated values, skills, and relationships that led to positive behaviors, better health, and educational achievement.
As parent and teacher at Pinecrest Elementary, Tara Wood is excited that the YMCA program is available at her school. Her daughter Kinsley enjoys the activities, crafts and lessons that are offered each day. Tara shares that she finds comfort in knowing that her daughter is in a safe and happy environment each day, and that the program gives her the opportunity to meet students of different ages, try new things and learn to be independent.
HEALTHY LIVING
321,336 individuals were impacted by Y programs designed to help them improve their health and well-being and connect to new friends.
Zion and Belia had the chance to spend time outdoors and learn healthy habits first hand through BASE’s Outdoor Adventures program. This grant funded program, gave children the opportunity to learn how to fish, while spending time with peers. The children were given fishing poles at the end of the program, and now have the opportunity to continue building on this healthy habit.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
187 children learned life-saving skills through drowning prevention programs while THOUSANDS of neighbors were served in other mission based programs at little or no cost thanks to charitable contributions.
Angela Cumare moved from Venezuela with her daughter 6 months ago to improve their quality of life and be with family. When she began looking for child care, her cousin recommended the Head Start Program. In addition to receiving clothing and supplies, in just a few short months her daughter, Allison Pineda has learned independence, confidence, and sharing with others.
