We’ll add different types of strumming patterns in lessons
here:

Each bar has the same length in time. For example, if we follow ‘seconds’ on a clock or
watch, as we know there are 60 seconds in a minute. Each second is spaced evenly and
this is how we should play any type of music. Let’s use the 60 seconds in the example
above for our piece. Each second, we will call a “beat”. There are 4 beats in our first bar,
so it will last 4 seconds. Each strum downwards should be on the second.
1 second (beat): Strum;
2 seconds (beat): Strum;
3 seconds (beat): Strum;
4 seconds (beat): Strum;
and repeat evenly for the second bar and repeat the 2 bars again.
Try this a few times until you can get it nice and smooth and also try to keep the sound
consistent, so that each ‘strum’ sounds the same.
Your tutor should help you with timing, consistency, and will introduce other chords to
play, so you don’t get too bored of playing the same chord all the time.
