A PRICELESS LIFE CHANGED THANKS TO YOUR SUPPORT We first met little Lianne back in 2005 when we started a foster care program at her orphanage in Anhui, and this adorable three-year-old quickly stole our hearts. Lianne had been born with cleft lip and palate, and LWB was able to provide several surgeries for her over the years. All of our volunteers who met her in person loved her sweet and funny personality. When it came time for Lianne to go to school, LWB organized her education, and we cheered her on as she learned to read and received awards from her teachers. We were honored to provide her with all the building blocks she needed to feel a true part of her village community, but we also knew that one very important piece was missing. Lianne needed a permanent family to love her forever, which we believe is the universal right of every orphaned child. We are overjoyed to report that in late 2013, beautiful Lianne finally met her forever family, and her parents have told us what an absolute joy it is to call her their daughter. Whether a child comes into our hands for a few short weeks for a single surgery or stays in our care for many years like Lianne, LWB never quits working to make sure each and every child knows what it means to be truly loved. Stories like Lianne’s are only possible, however, because of your incredible kindness and support. In 2013 you allowed us to mend hearts, fulfill childhood dreams, and nourish both minds and bodies. As you read through this report, I hope you will know how truly grateful we are that you have allowed us to do this essential and often miraculous work.
