 Dear members,
Welcome to the second edition of our relaunched VTE publication. The first edition was so well received, we hope that you also like this one just as much. You will have received some correspondence from the national office over the past few months keeping you abreast of our activities but more importantly our progress in effectively relaunching the Society, baby steps but important ones nevertheless.
Having officially exited administration the management syndicate is in full control of
our destiny with little things like our own bank accounts, BPay and PayPal facilities back online, things are now a lot easier day-by-day.
I am pleased to advise that we have a healthy but not substantive bank balance, but we are paying our bills and slowly building up our cash so we are on the right track to financial stability. If our projects deliver to our expectations we will have a healthy bank balance at the end of the calendar year and will then look at slowly increasing staff to deliver even more services.
Congratulations to all the winners from last year’s MEEA, it was my pleasure to personally meet them and award them their appropriate trophies. The next few editions of VTE will
feature the winners’ presentations, I encourage you to read through them as there are all highly innovative projects relevant to our profession.
Reiterating my recent communique regarding our Government grant, Grant Thornton has commenced a deep dive investigation into
our organisation with the view to identifying more precisely what our modus operandi is now and what it should be to ensure we are relevant to the changing industrial landscape. Their final report is due mid-year, so the results will be available to our members through this magazine. Having said that, I am prepared to discuss the details with any members wishing to understand the findings in more detail at the appropriate time.
On the issue of governance, the management syndicate has decided to hold a general meeting to update members as to the state of our Society. This meeting is planned for later this year, with more details to be announced soon.
On another issue, our membership renewal is going well, but some have not re-signed yet, so please give this your serious consideration as a strong membership will give us a strong society. Please contact either myself or Rose if you wish to discuss your membership further.
