WASHINGTON FAMILY REUNION WELCOME

We are pleased to extend warm greetings to the members of the

WASHINGTON FAMILY. We are especially excited, as we have not joined

hands in many years. We are ecstatic to celebrate the WASHINGTON

FAMILY traditions, our rich heritage and to honor the memories of the

ancestors who paved the way. Our family reunion is designed to

rekindle old relationships and celebrate new connections through

stories of love that solidify our sense of belonging and shared history.

We, as a committee, selected SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA, as the location

for this event to acknowledge our family’s deep roots and history in

Shreveport, Louisiana. It's a nod to our family's deep ties to this region,

particularly honoring James Washington, our patriarch, who was born a

slave in Caddo, Louisiana, in 1856. His life and legacy of sacrifice,

struggle, and perseverance laid the foundation for this weekend of

celebration.

Louisiana holds a unique place in history, being the 18th state to join the

union. Shreveport, named after a transformative captain, flourished into

a bustling hub of riverbank commerce along the Red River. With its

distinct "parishes" instead of "counties," Louisiana bears the legacy of

King Louis XIV of France and is renowned worldwide for the extravagant

celebration of "Mardi Gras." Shreveport, known as the "Hollywood of the

South," boasts not only culinary delights like piping hot bowls of

"Crawfish Etouffee"but also a vibrant Jazz scene and Red River

ertainment.

There is so much more to learn and we are excited to explore, discover,

and share as a family. We are encouraged and delighted to understand

how this region has impacted our family tree. We look forward to much

fun, loving fellowship, and long-lasting relationships formed and

rekindled. WELCOME HOME TO LOUISIANA!
