Resources for Summer Music Lesson Three Activity: Up and Down
1. Tell the children you are going to sing them a song where you show the pitch with your hands. You sing the song holding your hand at forehead level for the higher pitches and just above belly button for the lower pitches.
2. You sing the song and the children join in with the actions.
3. The children sing the song and do the actions with you.
4. The children sing the song and do the actions without you.
5. Volunteers think up other places to sing about and everyone sings the song replacing
'London' with the suggested places.
6. A volunteer sings the song on their own (inserting the name of their chose place) and the
group copies immediately after.
7. The group sings the song and shows the pitch with the parachute, moving it up for the
higher pitches and town for the lower pitches. "Let's send teddy on an adventure." Repeat with a teddy on top. "Where shall we send teddy this time?" The children think up new places to send the teddy.

Social Distancing Alterations
If you are unable to conduct parachute play due to social distancing, try performing the activity with scarves instead. Each child will need a separate scarf that will need to be washed after the session. The children move their scarves up and down according to the pitch of the song.
