Repeat the activity two times, choosing two new children to be the window and asking a volunteer to suggest a new colour of bird to sing about (e.g. redbird, yellowbird, pinkbird etc.) each time.
NB: If there are two adults with you in the session it will be easier for them to be the window throughout.

6. Create the story

Opening lines: “Once there was an eagle called Elijah who flew all over the world delivering letters. One day the wind was so strong that he lost a very important letter that he was carrying.”

Wind = spin around and wave arms as you say “whoosh!”
Nest = kneel (with bottom on heels) and make a circle with your arms in front of you (fingers touching) to be a nest
Parrot = hold hand in front of mouth and use as a beak as you say “Polly wants a cracker” in an extremely silly voice
Butterfly = run on tippy toes on the spot and flap arms like wings as you sing ‘Flutter, flutter butterfly’ (the first line from the song ‘Flutter, Flutter Butterfly’)
Dragon = find a friend or two and hug them as you scream “Ahh!”
