Summer Music Lesson 9 Activity: ‘Someone is Hiding’ (traditional)
Babies and Toddlers:
Help each child to hide their face with a scarf (ideally transparent) and then pull it off for each “peek a boo”. If there are parents in the class, the children sit on their parents’ laps then their parents gently move them side to side to the pulse as they sing. Some younger babies will prefer for the adult to be the one hiding under the scarf as it can be scary if they don't understand the activity.
Pres-choolers:
Each child hides under a scarf (places it over their head). They sway side to side as they sing the song and pull the scarf off for each “peek a boo”.
Lyrics
Someone is hiding,
Is hiding, is hiding. Someone is hiding, Who could it be? Peek a boo! I see you. Peek a boo! I see you.
Other Ideas!
1. Everyone is sitting around the parachute. Move it from side to side to the pulse as you sing and then lift it up high for each “peek a boo”.
2. As above only you place a small soft toy on top of the parachute so it is flung up high into the air for each “peek a boo”.
3. Repeat as above with one, two, then three more soft toys on top.
4. Try singing and moving slowly.
5. Try singing and moving quickly.
