P. 3
Explain that first they must practice a special song with the imaginary parachute and that if everyone listens really well then you will take out the real parachute. Sing the song and move your arms up and down in time with the pulse.
Kevin jumps on the bouncy castle, Boing, boing, boing, boing.
Kevin jumps on the bouncy castle, Boing, boing, boing.
“Now we’ll use the real parachute and if everyone listens well, I’ll put my Kevin toy on top!” Repeat the song as before, but the group holds the edges of the real parachute, moving it up and down to the pulse.
Place your Kevin soft toy on top of the parachute and repeat the song.
Kevin seems lonely. Let’s see who else I have hiding in my sparkly magic bag that can join him. Reveal a second toy. “Who’s this?” Add the second toy on top and repeat the song.
Kevin’s still lonely! Reveal a third toy. “Who’s this?” Place the third toy on top and repeat the song. Repeat for up to ten toys.
Then place as many soft toys and finger puppets as you have on top (so there are up to about 20 all together) and sing the following:
Lots of toys on the bouncy castle, Boing, boing, boing, boing.
Lots of toys on the bouncy castle, Boing, boing, boing.
Don’t worry if the toys fall off. They always do!
7. MUSICAL STATUES: ‘Doowit’ performed by Pharrell Williams
a) AskthechildreniftheyknowthegameMusicalStatues.Tellthemthatthey’regoingto
play a game a little bit like Musical Statues and that if they can beat you to win, you will
give them all a Haribo treat.
b) Explain that they are going to be minions and you are going to give each of them a
shaker filled with jelly (egg shaker).
c) When the music plays they must march their jelly shakers to the Gru’s house (demonstrate
walking and shaking a shaker as you tell them). When the music stops it means that a baddie is coming! The children must freeze, hide their jelly shakers behind their backs and be really still and quiet (demonstrate freezing) so the baddie doesn't steal their jelly shakers. “If everyone is really quiet and still when the music stops, you will all win a Haribo treat.”
d) “I am going to turn into the baddie every time the music stops.”
e) Give each child a jelly shaker.
f) Play ‘Shake It Off’ and the children march around the room and shake their jelly shakers.
g) Pause the music and pretend to be the baddie. The children freeze. You get grumpy
because they’ve managed to escape you. “I’ll get you next time!” Try to be as silly as
you can to make the children laugh.
h) Repeat several times until you confess that the minions have beaten you and delivered
their jelly shakers to the Gru’s house. You cry and say “I want my mummy!”
i) Walk away and when you turn back you are no longer the baddie. Tell the children that you’ve turned back into a Minion Sparkles, congratulate them and tell them you will give
them their Haribo prize before you go home.
