Spring Music Lesson 9 Resource

Resources for Spring Music Lesson Nine Activity: Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
Sing the well known song acapella, tapping the body parts as indicated by the lyrics.
Lyrics:
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, Knees and toes.
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, Knees and toes,
And eyes and ears and mouth and nose. Head, shoulders, knees and toes,
Knees and toes.
Other Ideas!
1. Take out your remote control and press 'slow motion'. Perform the song slowly.
2. Take out your remote control and press 'fast forward'. Perform the song quickly.
3. Ask your child to use their 'thinking voice' for the word “head” (hearing the word “head”
but not singing it out loud). They should understand thinking voice from the 'Yes We Can' game. Start by mouthing the word 'head' and eventually just using inner hearing. Do this activity without the track to begin with. If/when they get the hang of it you can add the thinking voice to 'shoulders' then 'knees' and then 'toes'. Once you have worked through all those, play the track above, perform the well known actions, and listen to Lucy’s instructions for when to use thinking voices.
