Resources for Spring Dance Lesson Eight: Getting Ready for Bed
Activity: ‘Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear’ (traditional)
Ask your child to show you his/her favourite teddy. Sing the song with the chosen teddy, doing the actions on the teddy and in time with the pulse. Place the teddy somewhere where he/she can 'watch' the performance, and you and your child sing the song and perform the actions using your own bodies (instead of the teddy’s).
Lyrics:
Teddy bear, teddy bear, touch your nose. (tap nose 8 times to pulse) Teddy bear, teddy bear, touch your toes. (tap toes 8 times to pulse) Teddy bear, teddy bear, touch the ground. (tap floor 8 times to pulse) Teddy bear, teddy bear, bear turn around. (as indicated)
Teddy bear, teddy bear, climb the stairs. (as indicated) Teddy bear, teddy bear, say your prayers. (as indicated) Teddy bear, teddy bear, turn off the light. (as indicated) Teddy bear, teddy bear, say goodnight. (as indicated)
Other Ideas!
1. Perform the song slowly.
2. Perform the song quickly.
3. Choreograph a new dance to perform for teddy. Ask your child to choose the song and come
up with the dance moves together.
