Resources for Spring Lesson Nine: Getting Ready for the Day
Activity: ‘Brush Your Teeth’ (traditional)
Sing the song as you perform the following actions. Click fingers on the off beat for the first two lines of each verse. Also hold up correct number of fingers to represent the time as you say “one”, “two”, “three” etc. Pretend to brush your teeth for lines three and four.
Lyrics:
When you wake up in the morning at a quarter to one, And you want to have a little fun,
You brush your teeth ch ch ch ch ch, ch ch ch ch ch, You brush your teeth ch ch ch ch ch, ch ch ch ch ch.
When you wake up in the morning at a quarter to two, And you want to find something to do,
You brush your teeth ch ch ch ch ch, ch ch ch ch ch, You brush your teeth ch ch ch ch ch, ch ch ch ch ch.
When you wake up in the morning at a quarter to three, And your mind starts humming tweedle dee dee,
You brush your teeth...
When you wake up in the morning at a quarter to four, And you think you hear a knock at the door,
You brush your teeth...
Other Ideas!
1. Make up lyrics for new verses. What happened at quarter to five, six and seven? E.g. When you wake up in the morning at a quarter to five, and you start to sing and dance and jive!
2. Use the same tune to sing about other things you to get ready for the day. E.g.
You brush your hair shh shh shh shh shh, shh shh shh shh shh or You wash your
face splash splash splash splash splash, splash splash splash splash splash.
3. Sing the song in the morning as you are really getting ready for the day!
