Spring Dance Lesson 7
P. 1
Resources for Spring Dance Lesson Seven: Minibeasts Two
Activity: Incy Wincy Spider (traditional)
1. “Let’s turn our hands into spiders.” Sing the song acapella with the well known actions.
2. "Now it's time for us to become Incy Wincy." Stand up. Climb up the water spout for the first line. Jump to the floor and lie down as you sing “washed”. Stretch and wake up during third line. Stand and climb back up the spout during the last line.
3. “We’re starting to feel tired after all that climbing!” Repeat actions from activity two only at a much slower tempo.
4. "It's getting late. We need to climb up the spout really quickly before it's dark."
Lyrics:
Incy Wincy Spider climbed up the water spout, Down came the rain and washed the spider out. Out came the sunshine and dried up all the rain, So Incy Wincy Spider climbed up the spout again.
Other Ideas!
1. Turn your hands into spiders. Bend down to touch your feet. Slowly creep your spider hands up your body as you sing the song, until you are stretching up high with your hands in the air. Repeat with your spider hands creeping back down your body, past your head, neck, chest, tummy, thighs, knees, shins and toes.
2. Try singing the song and creeping like spiders on the floor.
3. Sing the song and creep like spiders on your tippy toes.
4. Make your own spiders. See craft activity ideas here:
