Resources for Summer Lesson 7: Toyland
Activity: ‘Let’s All Go to Toyland’ written by Lucy Milan Davis
Stand up and say the poem. March on the spot for the first three lines and hand to forehead looking left to right for the last line (the children should naturally join in with the actions).
Let’s all go to Toyland today, Where we can laugh and play, Let’s all go to Toyland today, And see what’s on display.
“Now everyone look around and put your hand up if you’d like to tell me what you can see in Toyland.” Choose a volunteer to answer. Everyone acts out picking up and playing with the suggested toy. Repeat several times. Encourage the children to join in with the words (as well as the actions) on the third repeat of the poem.
Other Ideas!
Change the words of the poem to travel to other places (using ideas from the children). E.g. Let’s all go to space today. Then ask the children to tell you what they can see there.
