1. Tune the Children’s Ukuleles as they Arrive (5-10 mins MAX)

3. Getting to Know Your Ukulele (4 mins)
Point to a peg on your ukulele. Ask the children to name it. “What do we use the pegs for?” Choose a volunteer to answer and help clarify their answer if needed.
Then, ask if there is a volunteer who can show you all of the ukulele parts learnt so far (head, neck, body, sound hole, fretboard, frets, bridge, nut and pegs). See if the volunteer can come up with both the names and locations without any prompting. Repeat with another two volunteers.
Next, test all the children’s knowledge of all the parts learnt so far. Sometimes point to a part and ask them to name it and sometimes say the name of a part and ask them to show you where it is on their ukuleles. Do this mostly with the whole group at once. However, you can sometimes call on volunteers to answer on their own as well.
4. Finger Dexterity (3 mins): ‘Dinosaur Fingers’ written by Lucy Milan Davis “It’s time to do our dinosaur fingers!” Please see instructions in lesson plan 1.
5. Tuning (5 mins): ‘The Tuning Song’ written by Lucy Milan Davis NB: Before the lesson make sure your G string is out of tune.
Remind the children how to hold their ukuleles. See activity 5 ‘Tuning’ from lesson plan 1 for instructions.
Play a G with your tuning fork and ask the children to hum the note they heard. Then, ask everyone to pluck the G strings on their ukuleles with their thumbs and then hum the note they
