SAYS” whenever you see fit! Then move onto some PJ Masks themed actions, such as fly like Owlette/jump like Gecko/run like Catboy/Ninja chop like Night Ninja etc. You may need to demonstrate the PJ Masks actions before including them in the game.
15. CHOREOGRAPHED DANCE TWO: ‘Strong and Brave’ performed by Hi-5
Click on song name to open the video in YouTube.
“PJ Masks are very strong and brave so I’m going to teach you a dance that will make you very strong and brave just like them! But first I’m going to give you all a superhero cape to wear!” Give each child a superhero cape (coloured scarf) to wear. Encourage the adults present to help you assist any children that need help tying their scarf around their shoulders. Play the track and perform the dance as in the video.
16. CHASING GAME*: ‘Catch the PJ Masks!’ (sung to the traditional tune of ‘Tiny Tim’)
“And now you’re going to have a short lesson on how to be a PJ Mask. I am the teacher and you are my students. Follow me.” Sing the song acapella and perform the actions as indicated by the lyrics.
“Everyone knows that PJ Masks must know how to jump really high!”
The PJ Masks are jumping, the PJ Masks are jumping, the PJ Masks are jumping, in the night time class.
“Of course, PJ Masks must also be very good at climbing!”
The PJ Masks are climbing, the PJ Masks are climbing, the PJ Masks are climbing, in the night time class.
“And some PJ Masks can even fly!”
The PJ Masks are flying... The PJ Masks are sleeping... The PJ Masks are waking...
“Now I’m going to be the baddie and chase you and see how many PJ Masks I can catch!” Chase the children as you sing the final verse.
Romeo is chasing...
Ask the birthday boy/girl if they would like to be the next Romeo. If they say no, choose someone with their hand up who managed to escape you. Remind the next Romeo that when you sing “Romeo is chasing” they must catch as many PJ Masks as possible. Repeat and then choose a child who “managed to escape” to be the next Romeo (otherwise they’ll all just be caught on purpose). Repeat as many times as necessary (for example if there is no pass the parcel and/or not many children you may get through the activities quickly and so extend this one, or if you are running behind you could perform the activity just two or three times).
17. MUSICAL BUMPS: ‘Wings’ performed by Little Mix
Ask the children if they know the game ‘Musical Bumps’. Tell them we’re going to play a game just like it! “Now at night, Owlette flies high up in the sky but she whooshes back down to earth whenever it’s time to wake up in the morning!” Tell the children that as the music plays they are going to fly around the room just like Owlette (demonstrate pretending to fly as you say this) but when the music stops it means it’s morning and they must jump down and land in their beds as soon as possible (demonstrate jumping down to the floor as you say this). Do not eliminate children or make anyone ‘out’. Rather, tell them that you will be watching carefully and if they jump down to the floor when the music stops, then they will all get some treats at the end of the party! Play the track and the children fly all around the room. Encourage them to do different types of movement such as flying high, flying low, spinning around, and dancing! Pause the music sporadically and the children jump down to land. At the end of the game, congratulate the children on doing a great job and tell them they’ve all won treats that you will give them at the end of the party.
18. PARACHUTE ACTIVITY WITH HIDING: ‘Someone is Trapped’ (sung to the traditional tune of ‘Someone is Hiding’)
“To be like a real PJ mask, you must know how to rescue someone. So let’s do some rescuing now!” The children sit around the imaginary parachute and move it from side to side to the pulse for the first two lines. For each, “Peek-a-boo!” the children quickly lift the imaginary parachute up high into the air and then down again on “We’re rescuing you”. Repeat the song with the real parachute. Next choose two or three children (including the birthday child) to hide underneath the parachute and repeat the song. For each, “Peek-a-boo!” you reveal the hidden children. Repeat until every child has had a turn. Once the game has been played a
