Page 4 - Pyjama Superheroes 2 Hours
P. 4
f) Play ‘Hey, Hey Owlette’ and the children march around the room and shake their magic crystals.
g) Pause the music and pretend to be Romeo. The children freeze. You get grumpy because they’ve managed to escape you. “I’ll get you next time!” Try to be as silly as you can to make the children
laugh.
h) Repeat several times until you confess that the PJ Masks have beaten you and delivered the magic
crystals safely to the park. You cry and say “I want my mummy!” Walk away and when you turn back you are no longer Romeo. Tell the children that you’ve turned back into a PJ Mask just like them, congratulate them and tell them you will give them their Haribo prize before you go home.
9. ACTION SONG OR POEM: ‘Sleeping Superheroes’ (sung to the traditional tune of ‘Sleeping Bunnies’) or the rhyme ‘PJ Masks All Shout Hooray’ from PJ Masks
3-4s only: Perform ‘Sleeping Superheroes’
“Who knows the sleeping bunnies song (the children should already know the song and how to play the game)? Well I’m going to teach you how PJ Masks play ‘Sleeping Bunnies’! We’re all going to go to sleep as children and when we wake up, we’re going to jump around the room like Catboy!”
Verse:
See the children sleeping, (the children lie down, pretending to sleep)
Till it's nearly noon.
Shall we wake them,
With a merry tune?
They're so still.
Are they ill? "Wake up everyone! It’s time to jump!” (the children wake up)
Chorus:
Jump like Catboy, jump, jump, jump, (the children jump around the room like Catboy) Jump, jump, jump, jump, jump, jump.
Jump like Catboy, jump, jump, jump,
Jump, jump, jump. X 2
If you need to join in on the actions to encourage them then please do so. Otherwise, you should clap along as you sing the chorus to help maintain energy. Repeat several times, using the children’s suggestions for actions. E.g. “Fly like Owlette, fly, fly, fly,” and “Climb like Gekko, climb, climb, climb,” etc.
5-6s only: Perform ‘PJ Masks All Shout Hooray’
“To be a real PJ Mask you need to learn the victory catchphrase and it goes like this.” Demonstrate the rhyme and actions for the children. Tell them you’re going to perform it again and this time you’d like them to join in with the actions. You repeat the rhyme and the children copy your actions. Tell the children you’re going to do it one last time but this time you’d like them to try and join in with as many of the words as their clever brains can remember. Everyone says the rhyme and does the actions. Congratulate the children and tell them that they performed the rhyme well and so are officially real members of PJ Masks.
PJ Masks, (hands on hips)
All shout “hooray”, (superman arm)
‘Cause in the night, (use hands to make the shape of binoculars around eyes as you look left and right for baddies)
We saved the day. (muscle pose one way then the other)
One, two, three, hooray! (crouch down and jump up punching the sky)
10. CATBOY’S FOOTSTEPS*
Ask the children if they know a game called ‘Grandma’s Footsteps’. Tell them they’re going to play a game just like it called ‘Catboy’s Footsteps’. Tell them to stand in a line against the wall at the back of the room. You stand roughly five meters in front of them and place your PJ Masks soft toy on the floor just in front of you. Tell the children that if they can take the toy without you noticing them then they will all have beaten you to become the winners! When you turn your back to the children, they must creep towards you like Catboy as quietly as they can, but when you turn to face them they must freeze! If you see them moving they must go back to the wall and start again. The game ends when one of the children manages to take the toy whilst your back is turned. When you face the children and see that it has been taken, give them all a round of applause and congratulate them all on beating you. It’s important that they feel like it’s you against all of them (and not them playing against each other). You can play the game as many or as few times as required by your party timings.
NB: Don’t worry if the children start laughing/cheat- they always do!
