After 40 years working in the building industry in a variety of roles from an architectural draftsperson to managing
landmark commercial projects and capital works for local government, Dario Bolzonello was able to bring some-
thing outside the norm to the design and build of his one-of-a-kind family home.
“When I designed the house, I had promised my partner that I would build her a walk-in cool room and freezer to
eliminate the use of three fridges and 2 freezers. I thought if a cool room can have a temperature of -18 inside and 21
degrees outside, why couldn’t I build an entire house using the same principles?” Dario said.
The 2.4 x 2.4 walk-in coolroom and the 1.5 x 1.5 freezer is included in the final design.
