9. What is meant by the term ‘Writ'?
Ans. A Writ is a formal written order issued by a Court. Any
warrant, orders, directions and so on issued by the Supreme
Court or the High Court is called a writ.
OR
Writ is a written form of a command in the name of a court
or any legal authority to act, or abstain from acting, in a
particular manner. The Supreme court and the High court
have the power to issue writs for the enforcement of
fundamental rights.
10. Name the five Writs issued by
the Supreme Court.
Ans. : The five writs issued by the
Supreme Court are :
• Habeas Corpus
• Mandamus
• Writ of Prohibition
• Writ of Certiorari
• Quo-Warranto

mean ?
Ans. Habeas Corpus means to
‘to have the body’.
12. What will happen by issuing Habeas Corpus ?
Ans. By issuing Habeas Corpus , the High Court or the
Supreme Court can get the body of any person released if it
has been unlawfully detained by any person or a group of
persons or by the State
