During the first part
of training, the so-called scent conditioning,
the Dachshund learns
to recognize the scent he is supposed to locate and indicate during his work, that being the scent
of human cadavers.
Cadaver scent is made of either natural or artifi- cial scent material. Artifi- cial scent materials are bio chemically produced materials, which match the natural cadaver scent almost 100%. The problem lies in the fact “almost”. They are not identical and I will address that problem later on.
