This year Lithuania became a new member of the WUT. A small Funny fact country in the middle of Europe where you can find beautiful
nature, tasty food and open-heart people, Lithuania is the home of about 3 million people. The largest city and the capital of Lithuania is Vilnius. In this small country, there are a lot of Dachs- hund lovers united by the Lithuanian Dachshund Lovers Club.
The decision to establish the club was made almost 7 years ago by a small group of Dachshund breeders. The first club meeting was held with only 14 members, but in the proportion to the size of our country it was a lot. At that time, not many Dachshunds in Lithuania had a pedigree – a portion of the dogs was bred and owned by hunt- ers, who did not care about papers and shows.
However, today the Lithuanian Dachshund Lovers Club is proud to have 57 active members. The club is managed by four board mem- bers and the President; all of them are elected by the club members every four years. The club President is Skaiva Jasevičiūtė, journalist, Dachshund breeder and also one of the club initiators and founders. Mrs Jasevičiūtė is breeding Standard and Miniature Smooth variet- ies. Her kennel “Marselio Kompanija” is one of 15 o cially engaged Dachshund kennels in Lithuania. The oldest Lithuanian Dachshund kennel “Rudė” just celebrated its 27th anniversary. The most popu- lar variety in Lithuania is Standard Smooth, but now Lithuanian people are very much interested in Smooth and Wire Miniature – this is a new trend in our country.

In 2016, the Lithuanian Dachshund Lovers Club has initiated and reached the record – the largest number of Dachshunds in one room, which was recorded and included in the Lithuanian Book of Records. You can beat this record if you ask more than 42 Dachshunds to come into one room and stay quiet for a while.
