group of trees and found a “wound bed”. Before I could praise her and tell her how marvelous she is, I pulled with the left hand on the tracking leash behind me, which had gotten caught while rounding the group of trees. With a gigantic noise, I saw something coming towards me from the corner of my eyes; and next a huge, probably rotten tree was falling on me, sliding down my face and finally on poor Nixe. We both sat on the ground in shock. At first I did not feel well, and Nixe could not understand what had happened either and was looking for consolation. After a while I called my mom at the basecamp because I was worried about Nixe and because I was cov- ered with blood. With the help from Ste en and Oleg I managed my way out, following my red paper markings and was brought back to the basecamp.
My arrival at the basecamp caused much excitement and many worried faces. Carefully someone used disinfection tissues to clean the blood and dirt from my face, another one found honey vodka to dab on the wounds, and last but not least, Ste en Maar had the top secret and never to be missed “Russian ointment”, much in use by hunters and fishermen. Our friends from Slovenia suggested to ap- ply a mask of egg yolk overnight. Gladly Nixe was not hurt or harmed and after several checkups she was put back into my arms. Tired and frustrated I sat down in the soft moss. Meanwhile the four judg- es talked with Ekaterina, Maxim and Oleg, and then Ste en Maar came to me.
