          TEMPORARY CASING

      • Sleeve: Install on completion of drilling but before hole is cleaned out.
      • Installing pile: Cast within sleeve.
      • Grouting: Where required, fill between sleeve and ground.

      • Sleeve: Drill hole and install sleeve.
      • Temporary casing: Drive through the sleeve and excavate for pile.
      • Installing pile: Cast to 300 mm above bottom of sleeve, remove temporary casing

          and cast within sleeve.
      • Grouting: Where required, fill between sleeve and ground.

680 INSTALLATION OF PRECAST CONCRETE WALL BEAMS
      • Timing: Install in situ concrete supports and allow to cure before installing wall
          beams.
      • Cut wall beams: Locate ends centrally above supports.
          - Width of gap between ends of beams and between ends of beams and
             masonry (maximum): site specific.
      • Filling to gaps at beam ends: 1:3 cement:sharp sand mortar.
      • Hard filling: Complete hard filling above each beam before commencing breaking
          out for subsequent beams.

      • Timing: Install wall beams and allow surround to needles and hard packing to cure
          before commencing excavation for underpinning..
      • Hard filling: Complete hard filling above each needle/ beam before commencing
          breaking out for adjacent needles/ beams.

TESTING

710 TESTING MORTAR/ CEMENT GROUT
      • Standard: To BS EN 445.
          - Exceptions: Strength test using 100 mm cubes.
      • Preliminary tests: Required if satisfactory evidence of mix suitability is not available
          from other sites.
      • Frequency of compliance testing: To BS EN 446, clause 8.4.

COMPLETION

910 HEALTH AND SAFETY FILE - MASS CONCRETE UNDERPINNING
      • Requirement: Collate and submit a full set of records for inclusion in the health and
          safety file.
          - Number of copies: Two.
      • Content: For each underpinning block record:
          - Date of casting.
          - Depth of base below datum.
          - Length.
          - Width either side of wall.
          - Details of drains and services built into block and diameter of sleeving.
      • Latest date for submission: Within 14 days of completion.
