P. 3

Dear Students,

I can’t believe the school year is over, but more importantly, I can’t believe
that we have not been together in the classroom. I truly, truly loved teaching all of
you this year. I will admit, I think of your class as one of my best years of
teaching. I have learned a lot as a teacher this year from all of you. YOU have
made me a better teacher, as well as a better person.
I want you to know that I am so proud of each and everyone of you. As an
8th grader, school is hard, and this year has been more than hard for most of you.
Some of you are feeling like you got ripped off of not seeing your friends during
your last middle school years at school and that’s ok. I too, feel ripped off by not

being able to spend my days with all of you! We need to remember to take this
“experience” and be better and not bitter.
My biggest fear is that because I didn’t get to spend the end of the year
with you, I will lose touch with some of you. I take pride in the fact that I keep in
touch with so many of my students after they leave 8th grade. I want to know how
highschool is going. I want to still be here for you if you need someone to talk to or
vent to etc. I want to meet you for lunch with some of your friends to catch up.
Basically, what I am saying is I am just not ready to never see or hear from you
again! Please, please, email me or whatever and keep in touch. It means so much to
               me!
Thank you so much for being such kind, fun, energetic students this year. I
saw/see something in each and everyone of you. Please do well in high-school. You
don’t have to love math, but please try not to hate it (for me, at least.) I promise
you will need math somehow in your future even if it’s to
               problem solve.
Lastly, remember to get involved in high-school activities,
go to the dances, go to the sporting events, join clubs, meet new
friends, start the year off strong (especially 9th grade,) be

yourself, take advantage of the spirit days, and ALWAYS
remember that your 8th grade math teacher is rooting you on!

***Would you believe me if I told you I am crying as I write this
to you? ;) Yup, I am. I just miss you all so much. Please be well
and keep in touch. Like I said every Friday this year, I’ll miss
               you!!!!

               Sincerely,
               Mrs. Ranum aranum@janesville.k12.wi.us
