Thorns in the Heart I

             "Because they may have planned to destroy air base for cutting
         off the communication and helicopter field of U.S Air Borne Army,
         who shared a half base with the Vietnamese Air Force."

             "If they overthrow the arms force in your base. They will threat
         Ban-Me-Thuot  downtown.  Therefore  the  small  Pyramid  Radar
         Controller Air Base had got the heavy resting upon it with a thousand
         of cannon shell 130 mm. And rockets and b-40. Nguyen. What did
         you think of?"

             "Father. Think of what?"

             "Pyramid Rada controller Air Force base."

             "I don't know what happens for it! If they bombed like they were
         now, I think of a lot of people die, and everything will destroy on the
         ground!"  In low and worry voice Nguyen said.

             "Do you think your base will be lost?"

             "No...! Because we had a strong force in there, and very hard to
         predict now."

             After half night of bombing by the canon 130 mm, rockets and B-
         40  into  all the  bases,  which  were  around  Ban-Me-Thuot  city,  Viet-
         Cong was open directly attacked into the city with four directions by
         the tactical of camouflage and dispersion typical methods in the past
         to  threaten  the  important  roadways  between  Nha-Trang,Pleiku,
         Quang-Duc and Ban-Me-Thuot city.

             The  defenders  of  South  Vietnam  quickly  rose  back  from  few
         advanced  posts.  All  South  soldiers,  Civilians  Officers,  who  took  a
         vacation for greeting New Year in emergency reinforcement at the
         military nearest to resist Viet-Cong on their location by radio news.
         Because their families were far away from their bases, most of them
         were living in the resettlement villages, which were around Ban-Me-
         Thuot city on the countryside, such as Kim-Chau, Kim-Phat, Buon-Ho,
         Chau-Son, Chi-Lang, Hung-Dao villages...
