ORGANIC
WEED
MANAGEMENT
1) Allelopathy is a biological phenomenon where one plant inhibits
the growth of another. E.g. Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.), Asparagus
(Asparagus officinalis L.), barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), Buckwheat
(Fagopyrum esculentum Moench), and Red clover (Trifolium
pratense L.).
2) Mulching: Covering the soil with dead plant material is an easy
way to control weeds and protect the soil in annual crops. This
practice can be implemented into most existing cropping systems.
3) Integrated methods: combination of various techniques.
