AUTHOR’S NOTE
This digital textbook have been prepared as part of B.Ed.
curriculum requirements. While being engrossed in the process
of conjuring up a subject to base my book on, I came across an
article on poison free food produce in a local newspaper. The
article got me thinking of how better it would have been if
limitations of traditional organic farming can be overcome by
involving advanced technology. It has already been realised that
the so called ‘Green revolution’ has not been very green in terms
of safeguarding the environment. And now in order to regain our
fields, health and peace of mind, it is imperative that we cultivate
in our future generation the basic understanding of organic
farming and the far too many possibilities that is yet to be
explored in it. The work titled ‘What’s in my plate’ is based on
organic farming. The books aims to shed some light on the much
sought after and needed farming strategy, i.e. Organic farming.
The book offers knowledge on Organic farming in brief bullet
format. Such an approach was to keep information as precise By Smrithi
and appealing to the impatient youth. It serves only as an
Sanil
introduction to Organic farming thus covering only basic
concepts. The book is prepared with the purpose of being an Registration
th
supplementary reader to 8 grader of SCERT Kerala syllabus for
the subject of ‘Basic Science’. Sincere efforts have been taken for Number:
the fruitful completion of this work. Nevertheless any mistakes 18119386008
from my side is duly regretted. I take this opportunity to thank

our Department head Mrs. Asha Sindhu. S.S and the whole of

STTC and god almighty for supporting me in this venture.
