Multi-Gen villa holiday
tips
PASSPORT, TICKETS, GRANDPARENTS... IT miGHT nOT Be THe FiRST THinG YOU THinK OF WHen YOU’Re PLanninG a FamiLY GeTaWaY, BUT ViLLa HOLidaYS WiTH GRANDPARENTS HAVE SOME BIG BENEFITS.
my own first overseas trip with my daughter, aged all of three months, was with my parents to a villa in Lanzarote – we had such a great time, it was the first of many. Here are my tips on how to have a successful multi-generational villa holiday.
Bonding benefits
The big bonus? Everyone gets to spend time together – not crammed in to a short period, but chilling out, enjoying each other’s company.
With families often living long distances apart from each other, or grandparents downsizing to smaller homes with nowhere for guests, it can be the only way to spend quality time together.
DO: Set out any non-negotiables in advance, such as rules for your kids.
Babysitters on tap
A romantic night out with your partner is suddenly back on the cards if you have parents to babysit.
If you’re travelling with younger kids, an extra pair of hands can be a lifesaver, whether it’s advice (if you want it) or letting you catch up on some sleep.
DO: Remember it’s everyone’s holiday, so don’t take too much advantage.
