1.3. FUNCTIONS

 Curative Services: There are 10 Health units spread across the whole
division providing primary care. They are equipped to provide OPD
care and resuscitation measures for critically ill. Secondary and
Tertiary care is provided by Central Hospital, LGD. Tie up is available

with private hospitals to provide tertiary care at CH/LGD, PC/KZJ,
HU/DKJ, HU/RDM, HU/VKB & HU/BDCR
 Public: First aid is rendered to needy train passengers through station
calls.
 Public Health: Colony sanitation is maintained by outsourcing and
departmental staff.
 Preventive and promotive care: immunisation, maternal care and

family welfare services are available. Health education meetings
and health camps are regularly conducted.
 Industrial health: All cases under Workmen’s Compensation Act are
dealt with immediately. First aid lectures, maintenance of first aid
boxes is done. Workplace inspections are done and safety
precautions observed.

 Periodical Medical Examination: PC/KZJ: A-I & A – 2 and below
categories.
HU/CKL: All categories.
 Candidates Medical Examination: PC/KZJ:- Initial Medical
Examination of RRB/RRC Candidates for A-1, A-2 & below
HU/CKL: Initial Medical Examination of RRB/RRC Candidates all
categories and PH quota

1.4. DISASTER MANAGEMENT
 There are 10 Portable medical kits for accidents at all Health Units, 4
Scale II and 2 Scale I Accident Relief Medical Equipment at different
locations.
 ARME Scale – I: SC & KZJ
 ARME Scale – II: VKB, DKJ, BPA & PRLI

 Different types of first aid boxes are provided at various locations.
 Augmented First Aid Boxes:
 SC - 4No’s, KZJ – 4 No’s & WL-2 No’s
 Static First Aid Boxes are available at all stations, passenger train
guards, other offices.
 All Engineering gangs are provided with first aid boxes.

1.5. FACILITIES AT HEALTH UNITS
 Primary Care through outpatient service.
 Cash imprest for emergency medicine purchase.
