Tekle and Erkenesh spent their five-day honeymoon in the home of Tirunesh and saw her again at the Full Gospel Believers' church two weeks after the wedding. "There's a new missionary couple in town named Wendell; they seem to be fine people," she told them. "They live near me, close to the French Embassy. I thought you might like to get acquainted. Here's their address; I tore it out of the American bulletin."
When Tekle called that afternoon, Bobbye Wendell answered the phone and became excited when he told her that he worked as a full-time evangelist. She pressed him to come for a visit. When he agreed, she and her husband, Kenneth, immediately came and brought him to their home. A previous appointment did not allow him to stay long. Reluctantly they let him go, urging him to come again soon and to stay longer.
Their graciousness made Tekle feel that he should call them again a few days later to say that he and Erkenesh would be leaving for A wasa the next day. Sister Wendell
