GROWTH IN JEMJEM
The work of God began when a lad of ten received the Holy Ghost, and from 1980 the Spirit has fallen like rain
upon the Guji tribes. God revealed the truth to Godana, a Lutheran pastor at Murri, by the young student. He and two other brodiers went to Alleta Wondo to be baptized in Jesus name and returned to teach his flock the truth. When three hundred people got baptized in Jesus name on September 10, 1981 the Lutheran church reacted with wholesale persecution
against all who obeyed the Word, taking men and women to
jail.
After I went to Anaheim, California, USA for the
General Conference of the UPCI, my wife Erkenesh,
according to plans made before I left, went to Jemjem with Sister Menbere and Brother Dejene to teach the new
converts. The amazing move in Jemjem probably came about as a result of Erkenesh's prayer. She felt heavily burdened for this area for a long time. In Borre, the travellers asked a policeman about a certain street and he immediately arrested them and put them in jail. The police took away their suitcases, food, and blankets; they suffered from
