THE MOSTABUSED VERSE L\- THE BIBLE
Peter and the apostles were not asking to be sn-ed from sin they needed deliverance from another, more in11nediate issue. They were asking to be saved from drowning. \'Vhen ·ou see the word "saved" in the Bible, it's not always talking about being sa...-ed b
the blood. Look at Romans 5:9-10:
9Much more then, being nowjustified by his blood, we 1 shallbe saved from wrath through him.
°For i{ when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death ofhis Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall
be saved by his hfe.
Romans 5:9-10
Notice that Paul says that salvation from wrath can be obtained by people who are already saved. The Amplified Bible
makes it a little plainer:
Romans 5:9-10 (Amplified Bible)
9Therefore, since we are nowjustified (acquitted, made .righteous, and brought into right relationship with God) by Christ's blood, how much more [certain is it that] we shall be
10 saved byHim from the indignation and wrath ofGod.
For ifwhile we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death ofHis Son, it is much more [certain], now that we are reconciled, that we shall be saved (daily delivered
from sin's dominion) through His [resurrection] hfe.
